Thanks to Teena Fitzroy for presenting Teena's Trunk to our freshmen and sophomores today. Teena is a disability advocate and motivational speaker with disabilities who shares her own experiences and helps to broaden her audiences' understanding of people with special needs.

The Northwood student council put out the Field of Valor yesterday. The display honors current or former members of the armed forces. Students and staff are asked to fill out tags with the names of people they would like to honor which are then attached to flags.

Michelle is consistently a welcoming and affirming presence in the business office. She goes the extra mile to assist our new clerical staff members as they transition into their roles, providing support for their training and addressing their questions from day one. Her dedication to answering inquiries makes her an invaluable resource for everyone. Michelle’s people-first attitude is a genuine asset to both the Hilton School District and the community.

It was a great weekend for these seven Merton Williams students who took part in the New York State School Music Association Area-All State concerts at York Central School: Lucas Childs, French horn, Orchestra, Sam Landers, Tenor Saxophone, Band, Jackson Streiff, Mixed Chorus, Rylynn Schrader, Treble Chorus, Anelise Mott, Oboe, Band Anthony DeBiase, Alto Saxophone, Band, Julia Coon, Bassoon, Band. Congratulations to these talented young men and women.

The High School was filled with diplomats in training this weekend as it hosted the 45th annual Model U.N. Conference. 28 schools from around the region sent more than 500 students to Hilton for two days of collaboration and cooperation. A number of Hilton students were recognized for their efforts, four were committee chairs; Daphne Hix, Mary Burke, Olivia Koegel, and Lila Lewandowski. Gabriella Maccrone won Best Delegate in her UN Women Committe and Adam Root won Outstanding Delegate in his Crisis Committee. Best of all, Lila was selected to be Under-Secretary for the UNAR Conference at St. John Fisher. She will then, continue as Secretariat for next year's Hilton Conference and UNAR 2026. Also, a huge tip of the hat to our Food Service Department which did an outstanding job of feeding all of our guests.

Congratulations to the following students who have been honored by the Urban League of Rochester as Early Recognition Scholars. Alexander Billings, Michael Hudson, Delilah Gilmore-Tep, Promise Kobela, Jakob Little, Aniyah Miles, Nisani Pitcairn, Lillyonna Reed Luke Reidy, Keng Taylor, Jewell Tibbs, Lael Turner, and Lyanna Vanputte. They will be honored at a ceremony hosted by the Urban League later this month.

Recently, there has been an increase in cases of a type of walking pneumonia caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae bacteria, particularly among young children. The symptoms often begin with a headache, sore throat, low fever, and chills, and can lead to a persistent dry cough that gradually worsens over two to three weeks. It's important to note that while many children may recover without treatment, some may need a different antibiotic regimen than is generally prescribed, especially if they have pre-existing conditions like asthma. The bacteria spread easily in crowded settings, making it crucial for us to remain vigilant in monitoring our children's health.
